Self Portrait
What things express who I am?
In this project we focused on what aspects of our lives have influenced the way we are and how we can display that in a self portrait of such. What I envisioned for my project was somethings most people think about me by first glance, based on my outside appearance or personality, and have things that most my not assume about me that make up who I am, on the inside.
On the outside of the picture of myself I put words that you could say stereotype me, such as "athlete", "smart", "funny", "sports". All these are pretty easy to tell about me if you just looked at me and knew who I was. But on the inside I put different things that i really enjoy that you wouldn't know about me unless you asked. For example, I have different music that I like, some my favorite TV shows and hobbies, and different, deeper, personality traits. All these things are deeper elements of myself that make up who I am and have formed the person I have become today.

Idea Generation
The Idea of Tesla Motors:
For my Idea Generation I was curious about how Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors, came up with the idea to become the first car company to solely mass produce electric cars. I think these cars are so neat and flat out amazing and I wanted to know more behind the idea of these electric vehicles. First I looked up the premise behind the idea. Two creators who had worked on electrical sciences in the past came up with a design for a fully electric sports car that would offer many similar sports car options while running only on electricity. They presented ideas to other entrepreneurs but it wasn't till they met Elon Musk that their idea take flight. Musk, very excited about the idea, fully funded the car and the world's first electric sports car, The Roadster, was released in 2008. With the success of this vehicle, Tesla Motors came back two years later with a luxury sedan, the Model S. And in 2012, they released their luxury SUV, the Modal X. Both these cars, although at a very high price, sold very well in their respected markets. Tesla is now releasing a more affordable compact car, the Model 3, at a starting price of $35,000. I find these cars and this idea as a whole revolutionary and one day hope I may own a Tesla of my own.

Learn Something NewWhat might seem easy, really was a challenge.
For this project, we were tasked to attempt to learn something new and for my task, I chose Connect 4. Now it's not like I've never known how to play Connect 4, but playing a computer on the hardest level, is another thing. I started the game thinking ok I want to try and win 10/10 games between this computer, but after my first 10 games between this dreaded CPU, I hadn't won a single game. I was surely not expecting this at all so I tried again and got the same outcome. So I decided that I would try to win at least 5 out of 10 games. So for the first two days, I just played and tried my best to win. At the end of this point the most games I won were 2 out of 10 with a couple ties in there as well. Determined to accomplish my goals, I started to research some strategies on YouTube that I could try and use on the computer. Day 3 rolled around and I began to practice my ideas and really focus on each move made in the game. By the end of this day, I had gotten 5 wins. From there I tried to get 5 over and over again and on the fourth day I got 5 games or more 3 times in that day. By day 7, I was beating the computer with ease, as long as I was focused and used my strategies. This little game turned out to actually be a great task and taught me not to give up and revealed the competitive spirit inside of me. |
Community Partners Project:
Citizens State Bank:
Problem: How can high school kids establish and MAINTAIN a budget to start their road to financial freedom
For our community partners project, me and two other Innovations students decided to pair up with Citizens State Bank in Fishers to tackle their problem. I chose this partner because I'm interested in business in college and maybe finance so I felt this might be good for me to work hands on with this bank. We first had to meet with our partner who was the Assistant Vice President of the branch named Danielle Fogleman, and she told us why she chose this issue and what she wanted to see from us in our final project. After the initial meeting we had a couple ideas the main one being to have a rep from the bank come in and speak to a large group of students about budgeting and how the bank is a great outlook to start a savings account. After conducting a survey among students, we bagged that idea because having another speaker come in and speak did not appeal to most students. So our new idea and final idea was to still have a rep come in but have them give elevator pitches to the students outside our main gathering area know as the CCA, where they could give their pitch to students then those who listened would get a free incentive. Along with this we would have information passed out and would offer a starting amount put in students savings accounts if they opened with Citizens. These savings plans would be very customizable to the student and their future and would set them on the right course. We believe this plan was the best to grab the most attention and allow students to start saving money, specifically with Citizens State Bank.
